While in LA last month for the #queenofkatweevent I was able to visit the set of the ABC TV show The Middle. If you haven’t heard of the show before here is a quick rundown of this hilarious show.
“The Middle” (premieres Tuesday, October 11 at 8/7c): Two-time Emmy-winner Patricia Heaton stars in this warm and witty single-camera comedy about raising a family and lowering your expectations. Middle-aged, middle class and living in the middle of the country in Orson, Indiana, Frankie Heck is a harried wife and mother of three who uses her wry wit and sense of humor to get her family through each day intact. Frankie works as a dental assistant, and her unflappable husband, Mike, is manager at the local quarry and her sardonic partner in the daily grind that is raising their average – yes, most definitely average – family.
Before we were able to walk the set we took a glimpse inside a wardrobe trailer which housed all of the outfits each of the characters wear throughout the entire show, dating back to the first season. In order to keep every organized the wardrobe specialists take a photo of the actor in the clothes and then file it in a computer system. This allows them to be able to look back at past outfits in case they need to reshoot a scene, or just want to make sure they seem repeating an outfit.
When you look into the trailer you think wow this all looks so overwhelming and you wonder how they keep things so organized. Well, that system I just told you about helps make it insanely easy, especially since they just upgraded to the computer system after having to in the past hand write each log of the outfits in a book.
The set was so cool to walk through, we got to see everything in person where the family films many of their scenes. The wall had a hanging family collage that I’m sure all of us have in our own homes. The coffee table was propped up and had everything you see on tv. The set was actually a lot bigger in person versus what you see on screen.
A Group shot with Patricia Heaton (Frankie Heck), Neil Flynn (Mike Heck), Charlie McDermott (Axl Heck), and Atticus Shaffer.
It was so much fun to visit the set and meet the actors. They are so sweet and welcoming. I had a blast viewing Season 6 Premier Episode. It was so funny yet so relatable, time is always fleeting so it’s important to cherish those moments you have with your family and not take them for granted. Get ready to laugh as we will be introduced to a family that is now growing up right before our eyes.
This year, the kids will find themselves breaking out of their comfort zones and navigating new situations than what they’re used to – which may or may not be very comforting to Frankie and Mike.
On the season premiere episode, “The Core Group,” Frankie and Mike are excited to meet April (Greer Grammer) – the love of Axl’s life – but discover that love may indeed be blind when April reveals a quirky personality trait. Meanwhile, after getting bit by the acting bug while working at Dollywood over the summer, Sue wants to change her major to theater, and Brick is starting high school and making it his mission to try for a fresh start and not be considered one of the weird kids.
“The Middle” stars Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axl, Eden Sher as Sue and Atticus Shaffer as Brick. Guest starring are Greer Grammer as April, Casey Burke as Cindy, Will Green as Jeremy, Brock Ciarlelli as Brad Bottig, Matt Cornett as Duncan, Crystal Shannon as freshman girl, Ted Stavros as freshman boy and Martha Thatcher as girl.
‘The Middle’ Airs on Its New Night, Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. Along with some other hilarious shows following The Middle. American Housewife 8:30-9:00 p.m EST with Fresh Off The Boat right after at 9:00-9:30 EST. Last but not least in this great lineup is The Real O’Neals at 9:30-10:00 pm EST.
