It’s my birthday yall! Well, it was my birthday and it stretched for about a whole weeks time. For about seven days I spent time celebrating my birthday with my favorite people in the whole entire world. Normally when it’s my birthday I have a birthday dinner out at my current favorite restaurant and then go home with a full belly and smiles on everyone’s face. This year I decided to mix it up and spend an entire week doing things for the first time. Let me tell you about doing things for the first time, they seem scary at first but as soon as you realize the fun is in the unknown you realize that’s what’s so exciting about life.
During my birthday week, I got to drive around in the 2017 Mazda CX-9. I completely loved the car, it had so many things I loved here is a quick list of the Top 5 Reasons I loved about this car, make sure you watch the video to see everything this car has to offer for yourself.
Top 5 Reasons I Love The 2017 Mazda CX-9
- Seating/Spacing. I love how spacious the seating is and how stylish the seats are. They are easy to clean and also amazingly comfortable.
- Heated Seats. These are perfect for cold winter day’s where it’s so cold out you can see your breath inside of your car. They heat up super fast and making driving to the store that much more fun.
- Features. Everything from the on-screen touch/manual console to the sunroof and backup camera, everything was perfect for my family. The navigation was a breeze to use and made traveling in the car a fun experience.
- Trunk Space. The trunk seems small at first sight but upon examining you will find there are tons of rooms for the many grocery store trips you have, as well as a convertible back seat which you can push down and maximize your trunk spacetimes three.
- Style. The style of the car is sleek and beautiful, it’s how I feel when I get dressed up to go out in the town. It is super easy to drink and park whichever way you need to parallel or backing up into the parking space.

The weekend before my birthday my bestie went above and beyond to make the day special for me. We attended our very first Paint Nite together and if you haven’t had a cocktail while trying to mimic a skilled artist’s painting in a room full of about 40 people, you need to do it ASAP. It being my birthday and all my bestie and I gathered my cousin, my besties little sister and a childhood best friend to attend a paint nite down my street. I have known these girls for almost our entire lives, going on 26 years now and it was such a sweet reunion that will happen many times in the near future.
As I was saying earlier this being my birthday and all of course something crazy had to happen. When I was planning on going to Paint Nite with the besties I figured we would be painting at night. Well 20 minutes into us finally getting started without paintings, meaning we had the stream painted, the power goes out and stays out the entire time we were there. This totally took paint nite to another level, thankfully we were seated directly next to the door with the beautiful shining sun. Our phones played a big part in making it possible for us to finish our paintings as well.
Although the paint nite was challenging the rest of the day was totally amazing, I visited the National Harbor in Maryland and ate at the Rosa Mexicano which had amazing Guacamole. On your birthday they give you a beautiful Sombrero as well as a piece of chocolate cake and a shot of tequila. Yum! We also shopped at Charming Charlie where I bought a super cute necklace and a new wallet. After dinner we rode the Capital Wheel, it was so much fun to see the harbor at night from above inside a climate-controlled vessel. Not only did we stay warm we got to sing and dance to the music for 15 minutes as we rode around and around.
On Sunday the girls and I went food shopping for a delicious Filipino Recipe that my family loves. It was a fun ride to the store and more fun blasting our favorite music and singing all the way home from the store. After a quick lunch, all the kids and I headed off to have some birthday fun at a local Glow In The Dark Mini Golf location. This was the first time we did a glow in the dark game and let’s just say it was a lot more fun than we expected.
At one point Malik’s golf ball got stuck in one of the courses, that was hilarious! Playing mini golf in the dark works up a serious appetite, so the kids and I headed to a local restaurant and met up with some family to fuel up for the last fun activity of the day. I’ve gone bowling with my boys years ago but the girls have never actually had a chance to bowl yet. So once we were able to finally play, after the lane we had experienced technical difficulties (did you notice I keep having technical difficulties throughout these days) we were able to finally bowl. Watch the video above and check out Malik bowling a Strike for his first time ever!
Fast Forward my actual birthday Woohoo! The kids were in school and it was just my baby girl Esuun and I till the kids got out. After the kids boarded the bus Esuun and I decided to take our 2017 Mazda CX-9 for a spin and head to one of our favorite breakfast joints. After a delicious breakfast which was filled with tons of laughs and at one point tons of syrup Esuun and I decided to head to our local park.
It was a beautiful day out where the sun was shining and even though there was still a small chill in the air, it didn’t stop us from playing in the park together. She swear’s she’s as tall as the car but I keep telling her she has little ways to go, what do you think?
Playing in the park is serious business, I needed some serious caffeine to keep up with this little girl. I cashed in my Starbucks birthday drink which happened to be during their Macchiato Event where you could get a buy one get one free drink. I got both free! Happy birthday to me I tell you!
After the kids finally got home from school we headed to Coastal Flats with my bestie and mom and ate our weight in their mouth watering bread rolls. It was so much fun spending my birthday week with all of my loved ones. It was definitely a week to remember and will be a ton of fun topping this next year.
I hope you enjoyed reading and watching about my birthday week and I hope you are able to check out the Mazda CX-9 at your local Mazda dealer. Take it for a spin and come back and let us know what you thought about it.

If there’s ONE thing that has spoiled me the most with modern cars, it’s definitely heated seats. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have that option. I HATE driving in the cold!
