Summertime is around the corner, the birds are chirping and the flowers are blooming, you know what that means right? Summer vacation is about to start, the temperatures will be heating up and so will the kid’s energy. As a mom of four children, I find that keeping the kids entertained yet cool can become a task in its self. Read about my 5 Ways To Make Summer Time Cool this year.
Try New Recipes. Try something new this summer and stick to foods that don’t require an oven. Using an oven can heat up the whole home, so find recipes you can make and pop into the refrigerator. I like to make cold pasta salads for lunch and cook things in my slow cooker during the day for dinner. Using the slow cooker helps reduce the heat omitted in the home and also provides an effortless way to make some delicious meals.
Recipe Idea: Grab one of the new Häagen-Dazs® Trio ice creams, pound cake, and a loaf pan and make yourself an ice cream cake. Simply cut slices of the pound cake and layer the poundcake and Häagen-Dazs® Trio ice cream until you reach the top. Pop it back in the freezer for a few hours, take it out and cut a slice and enjoy!
Find Free Things To Do. Having fun doesn’t always mean you have to pay to have it, you can find many local things to do in your home by searching the web. Plan A Staycation. If you aren’t planning on leaving too far from home this summer plan on having a staycation instead. Vacations aren’t just for those who travel, they are for families who stay home too. Like above you can find free things to do in your town, or you can find a local event and attend with the whole family. I like to take advantage of family-friendly events in local museums, restaurants, and local fairs. Stay cool and join a local YMCA or gym and cool off in a huge pool with the family or grab a quick workout and do some laps.
Get Out and Play 1 Hour a Day. The heat can get brutal during the summer but don’t let that slow you down from going outside at least 1 hour a day. It’s great for the kids to burn off their energy and good to get some fresh air, enhance the fun and whip out those water balloons and have a family friendly game of war. Ice cream is always a hit in summer! I like the idea of getting out for one hour a day, even is just for a walk or bike ride. Enjoying the warm temperatures and longer summer days is so important!

We love this brand of ice-cream! I wish I could eat it, unfortunately I am lactose intolerant, but my kids love it so much! This is always a treat for them to taste this, and we do buy it a lot in stores as the kids love the flavors!
